Senator Uba Sani,Governor, Kaduna State.July 22nd, 2025
For over a decade, Kaduna State has endured the pain of insecurity and displacement. While security has improved through sustained efforts, we understand that recovery must go beyond safety. It must deliver hope, healing, and opportunity. This Project is a powerful step in that direction — providing homes, education, healthcare, and empowerment tools to the beneficiaries.
What we commemorated today is not simply a ceremony. It is a solemn act of healing. A vow honoured. A covenant fulfilled. It is our way of telling every widow, every orphan, every displaced soul affected by the cruelty of banditry in this beautiful state: “You are not forgotten. You are seen. You are honoured. We are rebuilding with you.”
As I stood amidst the newly completed homes, hand-in-hand with the brave families who have endured unimaginable loss, I made a declaration with conviction. Indeed, today has been the most consequential moment of my life — not as a Senator, not as a Governor, but as a human being. Because every brick laid, every roof secured, every key handed over, represents the restoration of dignity. This is not about public office. It is about redeeming lives, reclaiming hope. During their remarks, the National Security Adviser (on behalf of the President), the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief of Defence Staff, Country Director of Qatar Charity and other dignitaries commended our administration’s commitment to rebuilding hope, healing fractured communities, and creating a more secure Kaduna where development thrives.
I am highly grateful to the Qatari Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, and the Country Director of Qatar Charity, Sheikh Hamdi Abdu for their unwavering dedication towards ensuring the success of this project. My deepest appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering commitment to ensuring a safer Kaduna State and his continued dedication to the welfare and advancement of our people. I also thank the National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defense Staff and our security agencies for their steadfast role in bringing peace to Kaduna.
This handover is more than a project launch — it is a symbol of compassion-driven governance and a renewed promise to our people. To the families receiving homes: your courage is an inspiration. This is just the beginning. Together, we are building not only houses, but a stronger, more hopeful Kaduna for all.

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA), Barayan Bauchi Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Baban Takko, has continued his strategic agricultural intervention across Taraba State and beyond with another round of distributions involving fertilizers to farmers, particularly those at the Lower Taraba Irrigation Project Gassol, Taraba State. This ongoing support is a continuation of similar empowerment activities conducted a few weeks ago, where Alhaji Sanusi Baban Takko (Barayan Bauchi), using his personal resources, provided modern agricultural equipment and essential inputs to strengthen farming activities in the region.
Importantly, these efforts are taking place after the successful distribution of farmlands to experienced farmers for irrigation and all-year-round farming. This initiative lays the groundwork for sustainable food production and rural development.
“Agriculture is not just a means of livelihood; it is a path to dignity, food security, and economic stability for our people,” said the UBRBDA Governing Board Chairman, Barayan Bauchi, during one of the distribution events.
His initiative aligns strongly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, especially in areas of food security, irrigation farming, and sustainable agricultural development. It also supports the core mandate of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, which covers Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba States.
The UBRBDA and its catchment states are indeed fortunate to have Alhaji Sanusi Baban Takko, an illustrious Nigerian patriot and nation-builder, at the helm of affairs of this all-important agency under the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation. As a man with a clear vision for sustainable agricultural development and water resources management across the Northeast region and the nation at large, Alhaji Sanusi Baban Takko brings a wealth of experience to the table.
With a background as a pastoralist at a tender age, a practicing farmer, seasoned administrator, and conflict resolution specialist/expert, Alhaji Sanusi Baban Takko is uniquely positioned to drive the UBRBDA’s mandate. Indeed, President Tinubu has placed a round peg in a round hole, and the results are already manifesting.
“When leaders invest personally in the welfare of the people, it shows true commitment, and not politics, but purpose,” said a grateful farmer from Gassol Local Government Area, Taraba State.
For his unwavering dedication and personal sacrifice in uplifting farmers and transforming agriculture in the North-East and beyond, Barayan Bauchi, Alhaji Sanusi Baban Takko deserves commendation, accolades, and the appreciation of all well-meaning Nigerians.
His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, defied all odds when he made his intentions clear that the country should have a full pledged Ministry of Livestock, the wailing wailers started what they knows best; from intimidations, threats, blackmailing, smear campaigns, sponsored propaganda, backstabbing and other forms of negative sponsored articles in both national and international media outlets against the president’s mission!

The far reaching recommendation in their report led the President to constitute and inaugurated the Presidential Committee on the Implementation of Livestock Reforms, where he said: “Traditional livestock system must be reformed to add value to Nigeria’s social economic growth and development. With all measures that is available to us, I don’t want us to turn this environment to another talk opportunity, I just want to inaugurate this committee to ensure that I am ready. The solution is here and we must run with it.”

Though difficult but not impossible to find the rightful person with combination of the above mentioned characteristics. After rigorous searches and widest dragnet of deep consultations as well as recommendations from patriotic Nigerians and relevant stakeholders, the search led to a remote community in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and it falls on Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, a practicing livestock farmer and one time a pastoralist himself, who happens to be the owner cum Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zaidi Farms Limited, located in Kaduna State, which is a well integrated enterprise with state-of-the-art farming equipments and applies world-class best practices in Animal Husbandry, as well as producing different varieties of farm produce/food items, also serve as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the foremost Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company (KRPC) before his eventual retirement from active federal government civil service. He reaffirmed his commitments to take the Nigeria’s livestock sector to greater heights while revitalizing the ailing livestock industry to bounce back to action thereby creating job opportunities, so equally outlined strategic priorities for the Ministry, including modernising Nigeria’s 417 grazing reserves with essential infrastructure such as water, schools, clinics, markets, and abattoirs, also to see the success of re-grazing of those areas, getting all the necessary inputs in terms of rangeland, pasture, water, the infrastructure for the comfort of the animals and the herders’ families, thereby bring an ends to incessant menace of farmer-herder’s clashes.
The livestock development minister, Idi Mukhtar Maiha set a worthy example while on official visit and on-the-spot assessment to Adamawa State, a state with enormous potentials, blessed with 32 gazetted grazing reserves, with the foremost Gongoshi Grazing Reserve Located in Mayo-Belwa with total land area of 6,700 Hectares and with capacity to accommodate hundreds of thousands of herds of cows and other animals.
