KANO BORDER SECURITY: CP BAKORI CONVENES TOWN-HALL SECURITY MEETING IN ROGO LGA

In response to security concerns of threats of Kidnapping in Rogo, a Local Government in Kano State that borders Katsina and Kaduna States along Dansoshiya Forest, extending down to Falgore Forest, the Kano State Police Command convened a Town-Hall Security Meeting on Thursday, 17th April, 2025 at Islamic Centre in Rogo LGA, Kano State. This commitment is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM to all Police Commands on all-inclusive policing strategies.

  1. The meeting brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including the Chairman of Rogo LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, Traditional Leaders led by District Head of Rogo, Dan Isan Karaye, Alhaji Garba Bello, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and concerned community members. Others are security stakeholders of Joint Task Force (JTF) comprising of the Military, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Vigilante Groups, Hunters, etc.
  2. The Honourable Chairman of Rogo LGA, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police”s swift response to security concern, outlining local government initiatives aimed at supporting the Police and promoting community vigilance. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Police and the community in ensuring security and safety.
  3. Traditional leaders, led by the District Head of Rogo, stressed the need for unity and proactive measures to address the security challenges. They urged the community members to provide information to the Police, emphasizing the role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace. The PCRC Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo, representing the voice of the community, offered insights into the local security dynamics and underscored the significance of community participation in policing efforts. He also commended the CP for engaging the Community, promising to support Police initiatives.
  4. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis responded to the issues raised during the meeting, assuring stakeholders of the Command’s unwavering commitment to tackling security concerns in Rogo LGA. The CP outlined ongoing and future strategies that will enhance policing efforts in the area, including deployment of additional personnel and equipment, increased patrols, community engagement initiatives, and collaboration with local stakeholders.
  5. The CP also recognized the critical role that community members play in enhancing security, and assured that the Police Command is dedicated to fostering a safe environment, and will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to address any security challenge that may arise.
  6. The Town-Hall Security Meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all parties to maintain open lines of communication, share intelligence and work together towards a safer Rogo Local Government Area and Kano at large.
