In a moment marked by reflection, honour, and statesmanship, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Northwest), Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, in Daura, Katsina State. This visit was both a personal and official tribute, as Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai undertook the visit not only in his official capacity but also as a true son of the soil, paying homage to a leader who shaped the destiny of Nigeria.
He represented his nonagenarian father, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a revered elder statesman and outspoken Nigerian patriot. Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai extended the condolences of NYPT 2023, with key members from both the National and Kano State chapters forming part of his high-powered entourage.
During the visit, Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai condoled with Her Excellency, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, wife of the late President; Alhaji Mamman Daura, nephew of the deceased; Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, his longtime associate and confidant; the children, and the extended family at large. Sincere and powerful prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late national icon.
Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai offered prayers that “May Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgive the shortcomings of our late father, leader, and national icon, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. May He grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort his beloved family, strengthen the nation he served, and continue to guide us all on the path of unity, peace, and purposeful leadership.”
The SSAP also extended condolences to His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, Executive Governor of Katsina State; His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR, Emir of Katsina; and His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Faruk Umar Faruk, CON, Emir of Daura. He further offered prayers and words of comfort to the government and people of Katsina State, the Daura Emirate, the Nigerian nation, and members of the international community who have been touched by the passing of a global statesman.
It is worth noting that the relationship between the Yakasai family and the late President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, was deeply rooted and personal. To Honourable Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, the late President was not only a role model and mentor, but a father figure whose values and principles greatly influenced his journey in public service. This profound condolence visit was not merely ceremonial, but symbolised a deep expression of loyalty, respect, and the enduring bonds of tradition and legacy, from a younger statesman to a departed national leader.
