Yesterday, in my office at the Presidential Villa, I received a delegation from the Otorhinolaryngological Society of Nigeria (ORLSON), led by its President, Prof. Aliyu Mohammed Kodiya, on a courtesy visit.During our interaction, I reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving access to ear, nose, and throat (ENT) healthcare services across Nigeria.I emphasised the urgent need to upgrade Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure, with specific attention to ENT care, in order to address the rising cases of hearing loss and the shortage of specialised medical personnel in the field.Specifically, I informed the team that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to tackle the key challenges facing the ENT sector, including inadequate infrastructure, lack of equipment, and the growing wave of medical brain drain.
