I was honoured to be at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, an institution I founded in my first term as Governor of Kano State (1999-2003), as it conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree on myself.
Using the occasion, I expressed deep gratitude to the university, and I stated that although I have undertaken numerous initiatives for the progress of our society, I desire to be best remembered as the architect behind the creation of the two state-owned universities in Kano. I also dedicated this honour to the people of Kano and Nigeria at large, and to all individuals passionate about advancing education wherever they may be. Also recognised at the occasion were notable Nigerian philanthropists and businessmen, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who is its Chancellor, and Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, both honoured for their exceptional contributions to national development and economic empowerment.
The ceremony was well-attended by top dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, his Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, Senator Rufaβi Hanga, members of the National and State Assemblies, NNPP National Working Committee, traditional rulers, commissioners, special advisers, and many respected stakeholders. – RMK
