The event was organised by the Senate Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Distinguished Senator (Dr) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola at the National Assembly in Abuja. The session provided an opportunity for stakeholders, including ministers, agency heads, economists, and representatives from civil society organisations, to analyse and discuss the details of the 2025 appropriation bill. Professor Adeola Adenikinji, the President of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), opened the discussion by presenting a paper titled “Restoring Macro-Economic Stability, Fostering Inclusive Growth, Employment, Poverty Reduction, and Infrastructure Development through the 2025 Budget.”
The Deputy Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon Barau I Jibrin, my remarks during the event, I emphasised the National Assembly’s commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to create a fiscal document that aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s quest for national prosperity. In response to Professor Adenikinji’s recommendation for establishing a budget office within the National Assembly, I noted that this suggestion aligns with international best practices.
